Finding your Passion (How I found mine)
Read time: About 3 minutes!
Back in 2010, I remember going to my 9-5 job and thinking to myself, there’s gotta be a better way than this. I have always been into design- fashion design at that time and I remember fantasizing about how awesome it would be if all I did was design clothes, and graphics, etc. See this were things I knew I was passionate that about- I just didn’t know where to get started.
Now you might be in the same spot. You’re not happy with your current job and you really want to branch off and start a business doing something that you absolutely love and enjoy doing or you’re just looking for a new hobby.
Either way, most of the times our minds get all foggy and it’s a bit hard to figure out what we really want to do. Sometimes, this is because, we are looking at what makes good money first then try to fit our passion to that thing.
Well, I suggest the opposite approach. Start with what I’m I passionate about, then figure out how to to turn it into a money making machine.
But, how do you find your passion?
Find something you are passionate about can be tricky. Here are a few methods I have used myself to find my passion. Ask yourself this;
- If you had all the money in this world and didn’t have to work another day in your life, what would you spend time doing with your free time?
- What did you want to be when you were a kid?
- What do you currently spend time doing when you have time off?
- What’s the one thing that when you’re doing it, time seems to fly by but you don’t notice?
“If you’re going to try, go all the way. Otherwise, don’t even start. This could mean losing girlfriends/boyfriends, wives/husbands, relatives and maybe even your mind. It could mean not eating for three or four days. It could mean freezing on a park bench. It could mean jail. It could mean derision. It could mean mockery–isolation. Isolation is the gift. All the others are a test of your endurance, of how much you really want to do it. And, you’ll do it, despite rejection and the worst odds. And it will be better than anything else you can imagine. If you’re going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It’s the only good fight there is.”― Charles Bukowski
And that right there my friends is what it takes most times to get your passion going.
